Manifesto.
nengifilms is an independent film practice founded by Nengi — a master’s student in advertising working in moving image, design, narrative, and emerging media.
The work is rooted in five things:
- Collaboration. Films get made with people. Especially with fellow students, fellow young creatives, anyone who shares the work for the love of it before the paycheck. The “team” is rarely the same twice.
- Honesty. Truthful before polished. Felt before refined. The most primary form of a story is usually the one worth chasing.
- Creativity. The medium is whatever serves the story — film, video, design, writing, code, XR, sound, paper, voice, performance.
- Passion. Made because we care.
- Representation. Whose stories. Whose faces. Whose languages. Whose silences.
We treat cinema as a whole — not as a single medium but as a way of seeing. A film is a conversation with media, technology, society, language, and culture. nengifilms is interested in the whole conversation.
What we make
- Film + Video — narrative, documentary, experimental
- Research — multimodality, cognition, learning, HCI, sustainability, accessibility, human-centered design, innovation
- Extended Reality — XR / AR / VR experiments and prototypes
- Literature — essays, scripts, the writing alongside the films
How we work
We love collaboration. We work with intention. We try to keep the making — and the making of it — accessible and enjoyable, for ourselves and for anyone who joins. Always in conversation with whoever shows up.
Founder’s note
Hi — I’m Nengi, and I’m glad to have you here.
nengifilms is a passion project that started with a feeling, and the wanting to crystallize that feeling. I love storytelling — all of its forms. To me, it is the most respected form of expression, my most respectful form of expression. And film is a medium I have grown accustomed to appreciating and admiring.
But more than that — nengifilms is also about cinema as a whole. We are not limited. It represents an individual, but also — more than that — represents all that we can be, and all that we can achieve when we align ourselves with our passions: with what is intentional, what is collaborative, what is honest, what is giving.
I urge you to tap into the many facets of who you are. To explore. To fail. To succeed. To try, and to try again.
Because when all hell breaks loose — and it will — it is the poets that will help us understand the world, and the artists of the earth will keep us from running mad. So we tell stories of our time, so that those who come after us can decide for themselves who they want to be.
